The Palm Islands in Dubai are the three largest artificial islands in the world, being constructed by Nakheel Properties, the premier property developer in the United Arab Emirates; they are known as The Palm Jumeirah, The Palm Jebel Ali and The Palm Deira.
The islands were the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who recognized the Dubai's potential as a tourist destination. Each settlement is in the shape of a palm tree, topped with a crescent, and has a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment opportunities, all within a unique and inspiring setting. Located off the coast of Dubai in the Persian Gulf The Palm islands make a sizeable contribution to the city’s coastline, adding a total of 520 kms of beachfront.
