After yesterday's excursion to the Burgtheater, one of the premier German language theatre's in the world, today we pay a visit to what was undoubtably the premier English language theatre of it's age, Shakespeare's Globe.
In truth the present Globe is just a reconstruction that was opened in 1997 but it still manages to capture the magic of the Elizabethan stage. There are now plans to build a New Globe in a fort on Governor's Island, New York, which we of course fully support. Why not beat the crowds and have a sneak preview of the fort before the proposed work begins?
