Embedded Maps

According to APCMAG.com Google Australia have announced that in a week or so Google Maps will be able to be embedded in blogs and web sites as easily as YouTube videos by cutting and pasting a small piece of code.

There are already a number of third party websites that allow users to embed Google Maps such as TakItWithMe and dr2ooo.com and you can also use an iframe to embed a map as I've done in the Los Angeles Times Homicide Map in the post below. However being able to embed maps direct from Google will presumably be quicker and is the final piece in the Google Maps jigsaw.

Now anyone will easily be able to create a MyMap and then take the code and embed it within their own blog, MySpace, Facebook account or web page. I predict another explosion in the use of Google Maps.
