Some sights just make you say 'wow'. The Mialu Viaduct is one of those sights. Designed by English architect Norman Foster and French bridge engineer Michel Virlogeux, it is the tallest vehicular bridge in the world, with one pier's summit at 343 metres (1,125 ft), slightly taller than the Eiffel Tower and only 38 m (125 ft) shorter than the Empire State Building.
The bridge crosses the River Tarn in the Massif Central mountains and forms part of the A75-A71 autoroute axis from Paris to Béziers.

As I was preparing this post I heard about the collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis. Our thoughts go out to those affected by this disaster.
