The Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris it is claimed is the most visited cemetery in the world. This is partly because of the number of famous celebrities buried here, such as Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde.
Originally the cemetery did not prove very popular so in 1804 the remains of La Fontaine and Molière were moved to the cometary and in the following years a number of other well known people's remains were also moved here. This strategy had the desired effect and people began clamouring to be buried among the famous citizens.
