The present Oklahoma State Capitol, in Oklahoma City is the second State Capitol in Oklahama. The first was located in Guthrie. However in the middle of the night, on June 11, 1910, the state seal was stolen from Guthrie and moved to Oklahoma City.
Construction of the present State Capitol building began in July 1914 and was completed five years later in 1919. However the building stood domeless for the rest of the twentieth century. The dome was completed and dedicated on Oklahoma's Statehood Day, November 16, 2002. So you could say the building took 88 years to complete.
